CROFT

CARS AND CAR CONVERSIONS ACTION DAY

The CCC action day at Croft circuit near Darlington in North Yorkshire is one not to be missed. Both Kevin Strong and myself turned up and got the usuall looks from everyone else. It started out good and then hammered it down in the afternoon (to our advantage).

Quite a few of the cars were quite surprised to find a Volvo 340 and 360 on their tails and harassing them to overtake. Most moved out of the way and were gracious in defeat, but some just held their line and tried to block us, which made it even more interesting, as i was now in a proper race mode.

When the rain came down the 300's were in their element, proving to be the quickest cars on track, apart from the odd Impreza. In all between the two of us we took BMW Z3's, an RS2000, a Caterham, a Triumph Stag V8 and the rest of the standard cars.

I lost it three times in the wet, spinning 360 degrees at the chicane, ending up in a cornfield at sunny in, and nearly hitting the tyre wall at the hairpin.

What a buzz.
